Dr. Stephen Clyde is currently an assistant professor at Utah State University, specializing in software engineering, object- oriented models and methods, and distributed systems. Current research areas include:
Stephen has been the principal investigator of numerous development projects that range from an innovate information system for searching job listing to a web-site for National Scenic Byways. Most of projects has have integrate concepts from object orientation, distributed systems, database systems, and multimedia. The development projects have provided an excellent testbed for emerging formal models and methods and well as stimulas for new research. The have also provided wonderful work experience and funding for many graduate students
Stephen has published papers on a variety of topics including: formal software models, object-oriented design methods, knowledge-based code generation, and expert systems. He has also made many presentations on his research and development activities at conferences, workshops, and seminars.
He received a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah, in April 1993. While at BYU, Stephen taught courses on operating system design, data and computer communications, programming environments, and software quality.
Before his experience at BYU, Stephen worked in industry for 14 years as a software developer, systems analyst, and chief scientist. Some of his accomplishments include co-founding a successful software company, developing numerous commercial software systems, and inventing a knowledge-based code generator that automatically produces source code from high-level designs.
Stephen and his wife, Emily, are the parents of seven wonderful children, Jamie, David, Joseph, Matthew, Nathan, Angela, and Danial. For relaxation, Stephen enjoys bicycling, photography, painting, and cooking. But most of all, he enjoys activities with his family like RV'ing, swimming, canoeing, building models, traveling, and working around the house.
